The puncture of the nodule, guided by ultrasound, will allow cells to be removed and analyzed under a microscope by a pathologist. The latter will classify the sample into one of the 6 categories of the Bethesda classification depending on the risk of cancer (category 6 if diagnosis of definite cancer).
This classification also guides your doctors to choose the most suitable treatment and advise you based on current medical science data.
